Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

The side effects of cupping are mild. Bruising should be expected, but skin should return to looking normal within 7-10 days. Other potential side effects could include mild discomfort, skin infection or burns.

 

Barb received her Continued Education training from Cupping Revolution and because of this training, side effects are low risk.

Cupping treatments are covered under massage therapy for insurance purposes.
